Helmet of Mambrino
Helmet of Mambrino represents the pinnacle of our craft — a limited-production reserve born from precision, patience, and passion. Each vintage captures the essence of our estate at its most profound, and each wine reflects the distinctive character of its vineyard and grape variety.
Our Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the western edge of the property, where cooler afternoon breezes and long, even ripening lend the fruit exceptional balance, depth, and elegance. Carefully nurtured in the vineyard and hand-selected by acclaimed winemaker Philippe Melka, these grapes are aged for 30 months in French oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop layered complexity, refined tannins, and a true sense of place.
The Petite Sirah, by contrast, is sourced from Block 12, a west-facing hillside whose rocky soils and morning sun cultivate fruit of extraordinary intensity and depth. Like the Cabernet, it rests for 30 months in French oak, emerging as a bold yet precise wine — dark-fruited and concentrated, with vibrancy and structure that reveal the character of its site.
Both wines draw their name from the legendary Helmet of Mambrino, the mythical relic Don Quixote believed he had discovered. In Cervantes’ tale, a humble object becomes extraordinary through belief and vision. In the same spirit, these wines are born from a belief in the potential of our land, the integrity of our process, and the transformative power of great wine.
